About the size of Chicago’s Grant Park, Big Marsh was dedicated as part of the Chicago Park District in 2014 as a mountain bike trail area and state-of-the-art eco-tourism attraction for all ages and levels of cycling ability.
That dedication was not without controversy, however, because it represented a change in plans for many residents and others who had hoped for a more environmentally “pure” restoration of the Big Marsh site. Some of that commentary is linked to, below:
