Indian Creek, a man-made channel developed to drain the original surrounding wetlands, originates in Wolf Lake, on the Illinois side of the lake, and flows westward just south of 126th Street, for approximately 1.25 miles , where it empties into the Calumet River.
Formerly a daunting conveyor of industrial pollutants, the creek is being regenerated as an environmentally positive contributor to the former urban brownfield.
